The painting entitled The Battle Between the Monitor and the Merrimac by Xanthus Smith (1839–1929) was completed about 1880. It depicts the famous sea battle between the USS Moniter and the USS Virginia (formerly USS Merrimac) at Hampton Roads on March 9, 1862.

New Testament translated out of the original Greek. Distributed by the Confederate States Bible Society, 1862. Handmade cloth cover made from blue and white cotton material, attached to covers and spine, held in place by a series of strings on inner front and back covers. Various illegible pencil markings throughout, including an inscription relating to an Alex Corey of Amherst, NC ??, Martin County.

Boards are backed with newsprint. Published by the Augusta Confederate States Bible Society. Printed by Wood, Hanleiter, Rice & Co., 1862. Came with custom-made slipcase.

Leather bound hardcover edition of Gray's Anatomy. Front and back covers are plain. Black square inset on spine with "GRAY'S/ANATOMY/DESCRIPTIVE/AND/SURGICAL" printed in gold lettering. Gold tooling on the spine. Printed title page, "ANATOMY/DESCRIPTIVE AND SURGICAL/BY HENRY GRAY, F.R.S. The Drawings by H.V. CARTER, MD/The Dissections jointly by the author and Dr. Carter./ Philadelphia: Blanchard and Lea, 1862." "....????Wheeler/No. 70 ????" handwritten on title page.

Title page has complete title, "The Hospital Steward's Manual for the Instruction of Hospital Stewards, Ward-masters, and attendants in their several duties." by Joseph Janvier Woodward, MD. J.B. Lippincott & Co., Philadelphia, 1862. Volume is divided into five sections, Part I: Hospital Attendants, Part II: Discipline, Police, and General Supervision of Military Hospitals, Part III: Food and its Preparation, Part IV:The Dispensary, and Part V: Hints on Minor Surgery and Dressings for Hospital Stewards.

Infantry Tatics for the Instruction, Exercise, and Manoeuvres of The Soldier, A Company, Line of Skirmishers, Battalion, Brigade, or Corps D'Armee, Vol. III, Evolutions of a Brigade and Corps D'Armee. Spread eagle with stars above embossed on cover. "By Authority, Aug. 1862, Casey's Infantry Tactics, Vol. III" in gold lettering with spread eagle and "Van Nostrand" printed in gold at the bottom of the spine. Back cover has same spread eagle design embossed on it. On last page, "Davies, H.D." "Casey's Tactics" in pencil.
