American made musket, possibly a Committee of Safety contract. Signed on barrel in block letters "I. King", possibly a Maryland contractor. Stamped "33" on wooden stock.  Brass mounts.  Rear swivel broken in place. Missing nose band, possibly since period of use. The engraved decoration on the lock plate (crane and eagle) was possibly taken from the American Continental three dollar note. The original motif also had the motto: "Exitus in dubio est" or “The Outcome is Uncertain.” An important Revolutionary War American military musket in its original flintlock condition.
